Here in Durham, it’s easy to shop local for all your outdoor needs, no matter what the season! Whether you’re tackling a large vegetable garden or sprucing up a small balcony, these small businesses have you covered:

Conveniently located downtown, Stone Brothers & Byrd feels like a blast from the past (just wait until you see the register) and rightfully so since they’ve been serving Durham since 1914. With everything from flowers to trees, veggies to house plants, you’ll be shocked by how this place just seems to keep going and going. You’ll find more than just plants here too. There are tons of great treats for gifting and even a seed catalogue to check out!

Durham Garden Center @durhamgardencenter

There’s always something new to see at Durham Garden Center. With a beautiful selection of perennials, annuals, shrubs and more, it’s easy to go a little wild. You’ll also be able to pick up whatever soil or mulch you need. Don’t miss their indoor area - it will make all your houseplant jungle dreams come true. Plus, they always have something fun going on. Think bring your pet discounts, funnel cakes, classes, and more.

Located in the historic Roll’s Florist building built in the 1930’s this teeny shop fits tons of foliage and florals. You’ll find an array of house plants, gifts, planters, and don’t miss the build your own bouquet flower bar. Pine State sources from local flower farms and even has a bouquet subscription so you can always have fresh flowers around your home.
